New site replaces Business Link

The government’s business information website has been replaced by a new site, designed to make it quicker and easier for internet users to interact with the government online.

The Gov.uk site at www.gov.uk, which replaced Business Link and Directgov on 17 October, provides information on wide-ranging aspects of running a business in the UK, including:

  • setting up a business
  • business tax
  • running a limited company
  • funding and debt
  • selling or shutting down a business.

A government spokesman said: “Bringing this information together into one single website will help reduce the financial and administrative impact of running multiple government websites.”

Anyone currently going to Directgov and Business Link will be automatically redirected to the correct content on Gov.uk.

The next stage of the project will involve merging the content of all government departments and many other public bodies into Gov.uk by the end of March 2014.
