Tax investigation leads to jail term for Midlands’ businessman

A Gloucestershire businessman, who stole almost £265,000 of taxpayers’ money by claiming false VAT repayments for his web development company, has been jailed for tax fraud for three-and-a-half years. Tax investigations get longer

The average length of an HM Revenue & Customs tax investigation has increased by two weeks, according to new research.
